 Jolene Fugate Named Rookie Athletic Director of the Year
- On Saturday April 24, 2010, Valley Christian High School Athletic Director, Jolene Fugate was honored as the Norm Mackenzie “Rookie” Athletic Director of the Year for the Central Coast Section. This award is given to recognize excellence in achievement by athletic directors in their first 3 years of service. As the Central Coast section representative, Fugate was chosen from the population of the section’s 139 public and private high schools.
The awards ceremony was the culmination of the California State Athletic Directors Association’s week-long annual convention. Fugate, a certified athletic administrator also taught several courses to athletic administrators from around the state of California.
On Saturday, Fugate took part in an awards reception and photo shoot with keynote speaker and legendary poker player Doyle Brunson. Fugate was honored to share the podium with fellow WCAL administrator Terry Ward of Bellarmine College Prep, who was honored as the section’s athletic director of the year.
In her seventh year at Valley Christian High School and second as athletic director, Fugate continues to make her mark both at Valley Christian, and in the state’s athletic communities.

Byron Marshall Receives Army All-American Bowl Nomination

With mom and dad, Coach Machado and the Valley Christian student body in attendance, Junior running back Byron Marshall was awarded a nomination to the Army All-American Bowl game for 2012. He is one of the top 400 football players in the nation who will now be narrowed down to the select 90 who will play next January in the 2012 Army All-American Bowl.
