Seniors, it’s almost time! In just a few more weeks, you will receive your college acceptance letters. Of course it is hard receiving those rejection letters, but sometimes it is even more difficult to choose between the schools that have accepted you. How do you decide where you will spend the next four years of your life? What if you don’t know what to do because all you have had in your mind is your “top choice” which has rejected you? Here are just a few pointers on how to pick the right place from you.
The first step is to make a pro/cons list. Revisit in your mind the reasons why you applied to each of your schools. In your list, consider each aspect of the school: location, climate, majors, activities, etc. This is your home for the next four years, so make sure it fits you. Next, research, research, research! Visit websites, talk to administrators, current students, etc. You will get a good idea about the environment and values of the school, which are extremely important. Finally, the best way to see if a place is right for you is to visit it. This can be expensive, but it is the most helpful way to choose a college. Hopefully, by making a list, researching, and visiting the campus, you will be lead to the best place that you can spend the next four years of your life.
