ART SHOW AMAZES VIEWERS
Event held downtown
By Sabrina Kilmer
If you saw students walking
up the hill with frames and paintings in their arms on Friday
April 22, you might have been wondering what it was for. The Art
Show of course. Getting ready for Valley Christian’s annual
Art Show was exciting as well as stressful. Mrs. Leighton Isaacs
needed as much help as she could manage on the Friday before the
Art Show took place. A normally quiet and small AP Studio Art
class was loud and crowded with many artists hurrying to make
last minute fixes on their work, measuring painting for frames
and so forth. But after all the stress, it all came together.
In the end, Valley Christian High School’s Art Department
once again put on a phenomenal show. This year’s show had
pieces from Art II, Art III, AP Studio Art, photography, video
production, and graphic design classes. It took place at the Downtown
Youth Center in San Jose (formerly the Oasis Nightclub), April
25-26 from 7-9 P.M; with a reception with food and drinks the
following night, April 27, from 7-10 P.M. The Downtown Youth Center
was full of talented artists, proud parents, and admiring friends.
Included was a special section for the seniors who were in AP
Studio Art, which featured self-written biographies. These autobiographies
shared about students’ experience in their high school art
classes as well as a little about themselves. If you didn’t
get to go to this year’s Art Show, you missed an amazing
event! Be sure to be there next year to see more cool talents
from your fellow students.
