LETTER FROM THE EDITORS
By Alisa Walsh & Taryn Gifford
Spring has definitely sprung.
Every year when spring rolls around, there is love in the air
and animals and humans alike become “twitterpated.”
There is suddenly an influx of little baby animals, from puppies
and kittens to birds and bunnies. During the spring, many of these
baby animals find themselves in the Humane Society of Silicon
Valley, because they have nowhere else to go when they are unwanted.
Fortunately, you can help! Yes, that’s right, everyone can
make a difference. From volunteering at the actual shelter to
fostering puppies to adoption, there are many options for a person
interested in helping these animals. You can visit the shelter
or their website: the Humane Society of Silicon Valley is located
at 2530 Lafayette Street in Santa Clara and their website address
is www.hssv.org. On the website you will find a list of adoptable
dogs, cats, and rabbits, as well as a list of needed donations
(mainly blankets and pet food) and volunteer opportunities. Even
if you don’t have any experience dealing with animals, you
can still help out at the shelter store or make biscuits for the
dogs at the shelter.
Even if you are not interested in animals, the positions at the
Humane Society are perfect for fulfilling Valley’s community
service requirements. By volunteering a little portion of time,
you can help these animals. People are not the only ones who sometimes
need our help!
