Athlete Spotlight: STEVEN
GIORDANO
---
By Heather Heise
The April 2005 Sports Spot
Light Athlete is varsity baseball player, Steven Giordano. Giordano
is a junior and has been attending Valley Christian since his
freshman year. He started playing baseball when he was four and
started out on the freshmen team here at Valley. Giordano is not
only involved in baseball, but is Co-Editor of Sports for The
Warrior newspaper and plays Lacrosse during the fall.
As much as this maybe a surprise for Steven, his fellow teammates
believe that Giordano is more than deserving of the April Spot
Light Athlete. Senior Angel Bravo commented, “Steven works
hard day in and day out, no matter what is asked of him.”
Sophomores and fellow teammates Chris Barber and Josh Espinosa
stated, “‘The Rat’ (the team nick name for Giordano)
never gives up with out a fight. He gives it his all and is the
epitome of a selfless team player.”
Giordano has hopes and dreams of one day attending UCLA and becoming
a pilot. His girlfriend, junior Brittany Brinkman knows how passionate
and committed he is to the VC baseball program. “Baseball
and the guys are always on his mind. He has big hopes for the
team and next year’s season.” Senior class secretary
and influential Christian leader Nate Dreesmann commented, “Steven
models faithfulness in the way he carries himself both on and
off the field and more importantly, how he handles situations
that might not always be in his favor.”
It is clear to see that Steven Giordano is more than deserving
of the Spot Light Athlete for the month of April. His dedication
to the team, faith in God and consistency has shown through and
has left an impression on many. Congratulations Steven and good
luck with the rest of the season!
