JV girls softball has been pumped up and playing their hardest this season. From the March 25 tournament in Santa Clara to the April 15 game against Notre Dame, San Francisco, the Lady Warriors have been battling fiercely.

As for the March 25-26 tournament in Santa Clara, the girls were not having their best playing weekend. They lost two games and won one game. Despite the two losses, the win against Wilcox was an awesome score of 15-1. Melissa Castle commented, “The two games that we lost we totally could’ve won, but we got really intimidated by the size of the other girls, and the winning record they had.” The April 5 game against Archbishop Mitty was another loss due to intimidation. Valley lost the game 10-0, ending in the 5th inning.
The Warriors beat Sacred Heart Cathedral 14-6. Though the first inning was a little bit shaky in defense, after that the girls got pumped and hit the ball hard. Sarah Reinartz was helpful by hitting two triples with bases loaded, knocking in six of the 14 runs. Stephanie Olson played her game as well by hitting 2 base hits and a triple. Klein stole home successfully twice in a row. Just about everyone who came up to the plate got on base with a successful hit or walk.

Playing Presentation didn’t come up as successfully as Sacred Heart did. The Lady Warriors lost 11-0 against Pres with little offense and poor defense at times. Though the Lady Warriors could’ve won the game, one bad inning, defensively, really hurt them because that one inning they gave up 7 of the 11 runs on errors. In head coach Jessica Brady’s words, “Presentation didn’t beat us, we beat ourselves.”

One disadvantage that the ladies had this part of the season is that these girls have been plagued by injuries. The Lady Warrior JV softball team has not yet given up. They will continue to strive for a win and play their hardest. We will keep working our hardest and maintaining a good attitude toward the game.” Pitcher, Allison Navaro commented, “Practice makes perfect, so the harder we practice, the better we will be.”
