Paired Senior, Freshman Propel Golf Team Past Archbishop Riordan
by Ryan Eshoff

When two of your top varsity golfers are underclassmen, you are bound to experience some growing pains and tough defeats, both of which have been experienced in abudance this year by the VC golf team. Coach Barry Laing's combination of upperclassmen and talented underclassmen has struggled through bad weather and brutal competition from powerhouse golf programs around the Bay Area and the Peninsula. On March 13, the team met Archbishop Mitty at San Jose Municipal Golf Course. Although the Warriors kept it close, the Monarchs came out victorious, 192-212. Against Bellarmine later in the week, in a match that had been rescheduled, the Bells came out on top 186-229, despite a superb round by sophomore Matt Warnock. Hosting St. Francis at Corde Valle, the Warriors were matched up with the league's top golfer, Stanford-bound Joseph Bramlett, who led his Lancer squad to a 205-233 win. In a rematch against Mitty, the Monarchs came out on top in nasty conditions at Corde Valle, taking the match 211-447. The Warriors took on Archbishop Riordan on April 6. Led by freshman Eric Kim and senior David Stasko, who each shot a match-best 37, VC rolled to a 203-230 triumph. Kim and Stasko rank among the WCVAL's elite golfers. "We've got some amazing young talent," said Warnock. "The other programs will have to learn to respect Valley Christian."

Spiritual Emphasis Week
Imagine trudging through a swamp waist deep with nothing to guide you but your compass. It is night, and you have to use your instincts to find your way to a marked point. For speaker Darrin Crowder, he has met many similar challenges such as this when he joined the army.
Crowder came to Valley Christian the week of March 27 to share his message with the students of how to separate “what the world tries to say to you vs. what the Bible is trying to tell you.”
