Want
a Job? Need a Job?
By Selena Ma
Are you looking for a summer
job? Don’t know what you want to do? Well, do something that you
will enjoy, and something that will come easy to you. Here are
a few ideas that might fit your personality and special talents.

Internships -
this job gives you a hands-on experience in an area you wish to
study. If you are interested in a career real estate for example,
you should work as a secretary or an assistant to a real estate
agent to see what it is really like. You can look for jobs online
or submit resumes to offices for internships, but the easiest
way to find an internship is through a website like Craigslist.org
or monster.com. This summer job will help you land a job in the
future by giving you more experience in your field of interest.

Lifeguard
- This job requires a lifeguard certification, CPR certification,
first-aid certification, a swim test and weight test. This all
seems so overwhelming, but reluctantly it is not as hard as it
seems to get all these requirements filled. If you are a confident
swimmer and can respond to emergency situations this might be
the job for you. There are many places where lifeguards are needed
such as water parks, beaches, community pools, and athletic clubs.
This job could be right for you if you are responsible and a strong
swimmer. The responsibilities you are given include being on constant
alert for people in danger and rule enforcement.

Retail -
This job does not require any previous experience. Responsibility
is key because employers look for people who can be trusted to
check schedules on their own and come in on time. If your closet
is organized and color-coordinated you should look into retail
as a summer job. This job entails you to learn how to use a cash
register, fold clothes, and sell them. With a job like this you
must be outgoing and personable. You will be constantly talking
to strangers and asking them questions.

Camp Counselor
- this job requires social skills and patience with children.
Many summer camps and away camps hire high school and college
students to lead younger children and keep them occupied during
the day. This job is fit for someone who enjoys physical and outdoor
activities. To find a job as a camp counselor consider going to
your local community center or your local church to see if they
are in need of counselors. The counselors need to be responsible
and flexible with schedules because camp usually begins early
in the morning and ends mid-afternoon.
