J.V. Softball
Season Delayed
by Sarah Reinartz

Very few games have been
able to be carried out so far this season for the JV girl’s softball
team. Unfortunately, the rain has made it almost impossible to
get so much as a practice in during the week. Since their last
recorded game against Pioneer, Valley has still not played another
league game.
Their last possible series of games were played at the Tom Barrett
Tournament at Mission College on Friday, March 24, and (rescheduled)
Saturday, April 4. The first excursion on the 24th was a fairly
successful outing for the Warriors. The first game of the day
was played against Los Gatos High School. It turned out to be
a scorching win for Valley with a score of 10-2. There was a number
of spectacular hits and defensive plays throughout the game that
attributed to the win. Ashley Mauro helped out
the team greatly with her double, scoring two runs for the team.
Allison Navarro and Alley Perry
also had run scoring doubles. Player of the Game award was given
to shortstop Sarah Reinartz for good defense
and consistent hitting and Perry. After that adrenaline pumping
victory, the ladies went off to play Branham High School. This
tough game, however, resulted in a 3-1 loss for Valley. The close
scored loss, and heavy win were enough to place the girl’s in
2nd in their bracket for that day.
Their next game was scheduled for the next day; however, once
again rain stepped in and rendered all games for another week.
The Saturday games were moved to the following Saturday, if weather
permitted. Fortunately enough, it did and all games were able
to be completed. The JV girl’s played their game at 4:00pm against
Santa Clara High School and dominated 9-0. There were little defensive
errors and good hitting all the way around the team. Two wins
and one close loss placed the Warrior’s in second place in their
bracket, winning them a plaque that was dedicated to Navarro for
her excellent pitching.
Two more games have been scheduled and cancelled so far once again
for the JV girl’s. There is, however, a positive aspect to this
inconvenient weather: more team bonding! The constant rescheduling
of games and short, indoor practices have allowed the team extra
time to go out for pizza and continue to get to know one another.
Nevertheless, this will result in many games being pushed together
at the end of the season. So the end of the season may be a challenge,
but with consistent effort and constant positive attitudes, it
will not be a problem.

Battle Cry Calls for
All to Stand
Thousands of people crammed into a crowded stadium with rain pouring
on top their heads. People just outside the wall have banners
and signs protesting the very presence of those inside. A scene
like this is intense.
This was the backdrop for the Battle Cry stadium event in San
Francisco. Among the thousands of teenagers attending the concert/worship
event were dozens of Valley Christian students. Freshmen, sophomores,
juniors, and seniors all came together for two days of meeting
with God.

Varsity Baseball Steps
Up to the Plate in WCAL
The varsity baseball team is continuing their already great season.
With a few tough losses the team is easily recovering. The team
cannot wait to continue their WCAL season.
On Saturday March 25, Valley played Sacred Heart Cathedral at
home. The team was able to easily pull off a 14-1 win. After being
rained out on Tuesday March 28, the guys faced an extremely difficult
opponent, Bellarmine, the next day. The team put up a strong front
against the Bells, but in the end, the leading score did not fall
to Valley.

Spiritual Emphasis
Week
Imagine trudging through a swamp waist deep with nothing
to guide you but your compass. It is night, and you have to use
your instincts to find your way to a marked point. For speaker
Darrin Crowder, he has met many similar challenges
such as this when he joined the army.
Crowder came to Valley Christian the week of March 27 to share
his message with the students of how to separate “what the world
tries to say to you vs. what the Bible is trying to tell you.”
