Kirk Franklin's New Album, "Hero" Turns Heads, Catches Eyes
Franklin has an amazing testimony that found him the success he is able to achieve today.
By Jenn Elias

Hero is the new upbeat album from the incredible Kirk Franklin. He is notorious for involving the genre of gospel with rap and hip-hop. (Franklin has brought a new type of gospel music to the public to acquire interests for different people.) On his past records, hit songs off his debut album Kirk Franklin and the Family; include “Revolution” that topped charts along with in several genres bringing a new meaning to inspirational music. He has teamed up with secular musicians such as U2 and Mary J. Blige.
This unlikely mixture comes out in a heart-felt product. Franklin has an amazing testimony that found him the success he is able to achieve today. He was abandoned by his mother and never had a father around as long as he can remember. “He was raised by his Aunt Gertrude, a deeply religious woman who raised him as a strict Baptist”(Yahoo! Music).
She had to collect cans to turn in for money to pay for his music lessons, it was money well spent! With such success in the industry, he is able to do what he was called upon to do. In the recent months he has appeared on the Oprah show where they did not discuss his music, but how he is not perfect and struggled with a pornography addiction as part of his testimony. He has since, gotten over this dependence and still has the loving support of his wife and kids. Kirk has always had a passion for music and reaching out to evangelize to people.
Critics constantly condemn Franklin for this inventive inspiring type of Christian music. The public criticized the hit “Stomp” saying that it was too “worldly” and secular. “I tried to defend myself,” he says of the criticism.
“But God had to start showing me that none of these people that are talking about me died on any cross. Once I got to that point, nothing mattered.” He told reporter Lisa Zhito of Yahoo! Music. He is known for surprising people and always finding new creativity. Franklin pushes the limits in Christian music and captivates listeners.
“Looking for You”, on Kirk Franklin’s most recent album “Hero”, is topping charts left and right. “Hero” is an incredibly upbeat inspirational album and now sold in stores everywhere. This album has received great reviews and considered his best work yet. He always finds a way to inspire people with new music for evangelistic motivation.
