Student Production "Proof" a Success!
Did Catherine take after her genius of a father?
By Kavita Padia

Valley Chrisitian’s student run spring production “Proof” was nothing less than sensational. Junior Nikky Jackson played the role of Catherine, a twenty-five year old girl who just recently lost her father. Her father Robert, played by sophomore Robert Norman, was a well-known mathematician who wanted his daughter Catherine to follow in his footsteps. Little did he know that she already was. Every night after Robert had gone to bed, Catherine worked on a proof. This was not just any ordinary proof, but a proof that mathematicians all over the world had been trying to solve for years. Catherine had solved her proof but made the mistake of not telling anyone about it.
One day after Robert’s death, Catherine showed her proof to her love, Harold Dobbs, played by sophomore Scott Callisch, and her sister Clair, played by junior Katie Miljarak. Harold and Clair did not believe that this was all of Catherine’s doing. With raving emotions and tears, Catherine proved to them both that this was her own work, and not her father’s. This heart touching play was directed by senior Camille Monroe, with the help of her assistant director, junior Shellie Guy. “This simplistic and modern play reminds us of this simple message; we will have a time in our lives when we will be in search of ourselves. And in order to do that we have to listen to what God says in the world around us, which could be through the people in our lives,” said Monroe. Monroe and Guy are both thankful for being given an opportunity like this at Valley. Opening night was on April 6 at 7:29 p.m. with the audience experiencing great excitement. The play’s closure left the audience very pleased.

Spiritual Emphasis Week
Imagine trudging through a swamp waist deep with nothing to guide you but your compass. It is night, and you have to use your instincts to find your way to a marked point. For speaker Darrin Crowder, he has met many similar challenges such as this when he joined the army.
Crowder came to Valley Christian the week of March 27 to share his message with the students of how to separate “what the world tries to say to you vs. what the Bible is trying to tell you.”
