VC Aquatics: Varsity Boys Ride Wave of Momentum
by Ryan Gray

The Warriors, a.k.a "Potato Heads" as they have been known to call themselves, swm on as the season progresses. Team unity is a main objective and hence the name "Potato Heads." "A Mr. Potato has all these different parts; eyebrows, eyes, arms, ears, and more," explained sophomore Jared Clapham, "And all these different parts form one Mr. Potato Head." This is the analogy Clapham used when describing the swim team acting like the body of Christ toward one another with respect and recognition of each individual.
It was all about team spirit for the Warriors as they took on undefeated and powerful Bellarmine. Going into the meet, the boys had set goals for personal times and the team. Although the outcome of the meet resulted in a loss for the Warriors, they were able to accomplish over ninety percent of their team and individual goals. This season so far has not been all about winning or losing, but building character.
Victory! The Warriors won their first league meet of the season, which was also a home meet adding to the sweetness of the victory. The boys came out swimming hard and improving times with the goal of winning in mind. It was a well-raced meet against Riordan, with the final scoring being 142-32 in favor of Valley Christian. The Warriors are anxious for the next meet hoping to improve on their last performance and continue to keep up the team spirit intensity.

Imagine trudging through a swamp waist deep with nothing to guide you but your compass. It is night, and you have to use your instincts to find your way to a marked point. For speaker Darrin Crowder, he has met many similar challenges such as this when he joined the army.
Crowder came to Valley Christian the week of March 27 to share his message with the students of how to separate “what the world tries to say to you vs. what the Bible is trying to tell you.”
