Unique Cards!
AP Art class raising funds
By Meryl Fulinara
The AP Art class needs the
help and support of the Valley Christian community.
The AP Art Class has its hopes set on buying a professional printing
press, but doesn’t have the money to purchase it. This year
they plan on raising funds by selling Christmas cards to Valley
Christian High School’s students and staff. Thanks to Valley
Christian’s very own AP art students, these cards are beautiful,
unique, and one of a kind. “People need original Christmas
cards,” exclaimed AP Art teacher Mrs. Leighton Isaccs.
“The AP art class has risked their thumbs, and have encountered
many injuries to make these festive cards,” expressed senior
AP art student Christina Shook. Every card is made by carving
intricate designs on wooden blocks. “I think I’m going
to get carpal tunnel from all this carving,” remarked Shook.
After all the blocks are carved, they begin to print the cards
by rolling on ink and hand pressing them on paper. This is a long
a laborious process hand pressing each card one at a time. With
the press that the AP art class is raising money for, this process
would be like clockwork.
These cards will be on sale this Monday, December 13 at lunch
in the Quad. “We’re really dedicated to our work,
and were hoping the Valley Christian students are willing to participate
in our fundraiser by buying our handmade cards,” said senior
Ashley Williamson.
