Valley Recognized At City
Council
In the presence of many, students accept coveted
award
By Alisa Walsh
After enjoying an elaborately
impressive assembly recognizing the Valley Christian High School
faculty, staff, and students, several VC students ventured to
downtown San Jose. Their purpose: to attend the weekly City Council
meeting and personally accept the Blue Ribbon Award.
Students present were Tucker Bryan, Cristina Masurat, Tanika Thompson,
Bryan Dudley, Ben Walker, and Selena Ma each representing a different
segment of school. Some of these select few were given the privilege
of speaking about what they represent; Masurat spoke about academics,
T. Bryan covered the performing arts, Walker represented all types
of music, and Dudley covered the awesome athletics and leadership
programs.
Aside from meeting all City Council members, students were graced
with the presence of San Jose’s own mayor, Mr. Ron Gonzales.
Upon his meeting, T. Bryan stated, “I loved the fact that
he was wearing a pink tie. It showed that he had a good sense
of fashion instilled in him.” The official representative
for VC was Mr. Forrest Williams, who was not only very complimentary
of the excellent work of the faculty and staff, but also pointed
out the outstanding efforts of the students to preserve such an
incredible school.
Vice Mayor Pat Dando, who is very involved with the Valley Christian
community, also had a plethora of praises to shower upon Valley
students. She emphasized that Valley is truly a school of great
exception and academic excellence. Bryan agreed, stating, “I
was very proud to be representing such a great school. It’s
awesome to be part of something that is now nationally recognized.”
