Freshmen Football Wraps
Up A Great Season
by Kylie Gifford
The freshman wrapped up their
season on November 13 with a season record of 3-4-1 and a league
record of 2-4.
Over the course of the last three games, the boys took both the
good with the bad as they gave it their all up until the very
end. The October 29 game against Serra, the Padres took an early
lead, scoring the first touchdown of the game. Later in the first
quarter, the Warriors took a 7-6 lead as Joseph Morales returned
a 75-yard kickoff. The struggle continued, both teams fighting
for the lead, until Serra scored again before the finish, ending
the game with a score of 21-28.
In another hard-fought game, the freshman played Bellarmine on
November 5. Once again, Morales started off the scoring for the
Warriors in the first quarter, giving them an early lead of 7-0.
The Bells struck back in the second quarter, bringing the score
to 7-6, and it continued to be a close battle, the half ending
in a 14-14 tie. In a well fought third quarter, quarterback Michael
Sacci hit Tanner Burns with a 48-yard pass for another Warrior
touchdown. But the Bells would not give up, ultimately earning
a 34-20 victory.
The season ended on a positive note, as the boys pulled out a
12-7 win over St. Francis on November 13. Valley started off with
a strong opening drive with Morales gaining 56 yards, but St.
Francis opened up the scoring to put the Warriors down 7-0. A
touchdown by Morales in the second quarter sent the game into
halftime with a score of 7-6. Early in the third quarter, Burns
blocked a Lancer punt and returned it 29 yards for another Warrior
touchdown. The game ended in a win for the Warriors, with a final
score of 12-7.
Congratulations, boys, on an awesome season!
