Frosh Girls Basketball
by Sara Reinartz

Their shoes are tied and they are ready to take over the courts! The freshmen girls basketball team is practicing their hardest in preparation for the upcoming season.

The girls are pumped up after their 40-20 win against James Lick on Wednesday December 1. JV girls Monica Jackson and Sandra Kreitem played down with the freshmen team to help the succession of their first game. Jackson commented that, “The freshmen girls are good, and the opposing team tried their hardest, but the quality of the team is very skillful. They just played a great game and I was glad to be there with them.” Morgan Celaya said, “It was cool to have Monica and Sandra on the court with us, Monica scored a lot of the points!” Ms. Lana Lozano, coach of the freshmen team is said to be a good, though strict coach, making the team all the better. Chenny Zhang commented, “Coach Lozano is a tough coach, because we have to run a lot. But in the end, it all ends up being worth it because we show improvement everyday. Obviously the hard work is paying off already, because in the end, we came out on top in the James Lick game.”

The freshmen team is determined to press on in this season and play their best in all circumstances. They are all confident and ready to play. “We won our first game, and there is always room for improvement. We will continue developing and getting better as the season goes on.” Remarked Celaya.
