JV Girls Basketball

The 2004 – 2005 JV
girls basketball season has arrived and with this new season comes
not only new athletes but also a new coach. Athletes like Bethany
Beck, Mimi Santiesteban, and Amanda Clien are expected to be strong
leaders and key players for the team.
This year’s head coach is Karen Turnlund. Coach Turnlund
is from Des Moines, Iowa and has been playing ball since the ages
of four. She received a full ride scholarship from San Jose State
University as a forward and was the leading scorer in the state
of California.
Karen has four children, two of whom attend Valley Christian Jr.
High. She has been coaching basketball for over 10 years; of the
last 10 years 5 of them were spent as head coach of the Live Oak
Varsity girls basketball team in Morgan Hill. Coach Turnlund stated,
“I use to love playing Valley because at the end of the
game they would hand out insurance cards and it allowed me to
share about my faith.” Karen attends Morgan Hill Presbyterian
Church and is a strong believer.
The lady Warriors have their first league game on January 5, 2005
at Presentation.
