Varsity Girls Soccer:
Setting Out to Repeat!
by Alex Farrokhian
The girls varsity soccer
team is beginning another promising season. After winning CCS
last year the girls anticipate another successful season, working
hard to achieve this goal. Preseason fitness training began in
late October followed by team tryouts in November. Most of the
girls also played for club teams during the club season so the
team had no problem jumping into intensive practices and skill
development. Competition for spots on the team was intense as
only two starters from last year’s team graduated, leaving
no room for freshman on the team this year.
The varsity girls will be a mature team with strong leadership
from their senior players: Alisa Walsh, Weynab Admassu, Lauren
Vroom, Janelle Raymaker, Sarah Marr, Cristina Masurat, Chelsea
Chard, and Danielle Londre. The girls played three preseason games
against Saratoga, Leland, and Live Oak. Their league season started
with a bang yesterday with a game against Saint Francis. They
also went to a football game and volleyball game together to promote
team bonding. Last year the girls did gift exchanges, team dinners
and other activities that they all agreed where great fun and
promoted team unity and plan to do so again this year.
