Another amazing water polo
season has come to a close for our Lady Warriors. This season
the girls broke previous season records and were more successful
than ever before.
The girls ended their season after CCS playoffs where they faced
off against Archbishop Mitty. It was a hard fought game but in
the end the Lady Warriors came up short and could not advance
further. Overall the girls water polo team had a very successful
season, coming in first place in three tournaments, as well as
having a total of 22 season wins. The girls scored a total of
40 goals in 6 West Catholic League games. For all league teams,
junior star Kelsi Okuda was named first team all league. Okuda
scored an astounding 18 goals in just 6 league games. Fellow junior,
Christina Shilling was chosen for second team all league. She
also had an amazing 16 goals in 6 league games. In addition, senior
leader and team captain Heather Mckinney was honored with a place
on the second team all league. The girls excelled not only individually
but also as a unit and were an excellent example of comradery
and teamwork. Okuda commented, “This past season we really
came together as a team and helped support each other both in
and out of the water. I have some amazing friendships on this
team and it’s sad to see our season end.” The girls
water polo team had an awesome season of improvement and can only
look forward to doing even better next year.
