At the South End of the Valley
A look at the Youth Group at South Valley Christian Church
A place where young people can be accepted, share a sense of belonging and grow in their love and knowledge of the Lord.
by Kavita Padia

"The people here are very understanding and easy to talk to. Also, the staff is awsome!" - Austin Keeling

Located at 500 Shawnee Lane in San Jose is a welcoming church where everyone is invited to attend. That’s just one of the great characteristics showing how wonderful South Valley Christian Church really is.
Will Sawkins is the Pastor of South Valley Christian Church, and the kids love him. “Will is very personable, humble, and insightful in our walk with Christ,” says Senior Jessica Darwin. The Youth Group meets every Tuesday for small groups. “Small groups are a great opportunity to open up and receive Godly advice in a smaller setting. We always hit up Starbuck’s, and that is my favorite part”, says Senior Laurie Stribling.
Why go to this church rather then another one? Well, not only is this church welcoming, but it is also a lot of fun. “The people here are very understanding and easy to talk to. Also, the staff is awesome! They organize such great trips, such as joy ride, ski trips, New Year’s Bash, Hume Lake and many more,” says Senior Austin Keeling.
Every Sunday for the month of November, SVCC is focusing on “Becoming”. Here, they separate the girls and the guys, and they help each other to become men and women of God. Their newest and most current project is to travel to New Orleans and provide assistance for those in need. So if your looking for a church to go to, remember South Valley Christian Church will greet you with open arms and accept you for who you are.

JV Boys Soccer: Starting Fresh
Usually, the boys J.V. roster is filled with quite a few freshmen. As there is no freshmen soccer team, it is not at all unusual to see some of Valley's newest students squaring off against some teams, like Mitty and Bellarmine, who are chock full of sophomores and even juniors. Naturally, putting freshman and juniors together seems slightly... unfair. Things are going to be different this year.
