Music Review
A look at David Crowder's Newest Musical Endeavor
By Becky Wu
“Turn your ears to heaven and hear a joyous noise…O Praise Him, O
Praise Him,” David Crowder’s O Praise Him has always been a favorite
worship song. With his rugged appearances, crisp voice, and the heart
for God, he has made a significant impact on young Christians today.
This fall, David Crowder and his band released a new album called
A Collision on September 27.
The band consists of five members: David Crowder as lead vocals and
guitar, Jack Parker and Jason Solley both playing the electric guitar,
Mike Hogan playing the violin and turntables, Jeremy Bush as the drummer,
and Mike Dodsonplaying the bass.
The band’s lead soloist, David Crowder, graduated from Baylor University
in Waco, Texas in the mid 90’s. While attending college he learned
that most of the students at the college did not attend church. He
then decided to start a new college-friendly church with his friends
in 1996, and he named it the University Baptist Church. Even after
his successful music career, Crowder still leads many of the worships
on Sundays.
A Collision has a modern twist in contrast to regular worship songs.
The album, while glorifying God, included some very creative music
styles and ideas.
The band’s title came from their concert sign-off: “Where our depravity
meets His divinity is a beautiful collision.” The expression not only
referenced to God’s glory, but can also be interpreted musically.
There is a broad combination of modern pop, rock, alternative, bluegrass,
and gospel spiritual. Each part has its own unique taste to it.

JV Boys Soccer: Starting
Fresh
Usually, the boys J.V. roster is filled with quite a few freshmen.
As there is no freshmen soccer team, it is not at all unusual to see
some of Valley's newest students squaring off against some teams,
like Mitty and Bellarmine, who are chock full of sophomores and even
juniors. Naturally, putting freshman and juniors together seems slightly...
unfair. Things are going to be different this year.

Teacher Survey: Most
Embarrassing Holiday Moment?
Embarassing moments happen to everyone. They are not something
you can avoid or prevent, they are just part of life that most people
have learned to accept and shake off. Christmas brings joy but it
can also bring several embarrassing moments that a majority of people
would much rather forget. The events of Christmas such as the putting
up of the Christmas tree, or maybe trying to put together some of
the presents that say "assembly required" can bring those
most memorable Christmas moments.
