French Club:
Oui-Oui (Yes yes) Typically made up of all French students, this club
has fun and makes a difference outside of their own time. Led by president
Aimee D’Hondt, this club has done a variety of activities
already in this first semester. Movie and Popcorn Night was a highlight
as they watched Tin Tin, a French cartoon. D’Hondt said, “When we
watch movies, I like that I know what’s going on.” Also, to reach
out when Hurricane Katrina hit the Southern states, the French club
provided Crepes for Katrina. Crepes were made and sold with all of
the proceeds going directly to the rescue efforts. Slam Poetry: This club is constantly rising in popularity. It’s main activity is to read poetry in that slam-fashion. This off-beat, smooth style brings comes out every meeting. Albino Garces and John Hopkins share the “Slam-master” title, otherwise known as co-presidents and Mr. Meester resides as “Master of Poetry,” advisor. At their meetings, everyone gathers to show what they have perfected. With all typse of subjects ranging from funny, serious, tragic, and just about anything, the door is open for creativity to express. One of the greatest parts for this year’s club is, as Garces stated, “A lot of people are stepping up … with some great ideas.” Most of those who attend simply come to observe and to be entertained. Since last year, some VC students hope to participate in competitions all over bay area. Check out all the action every Friday at lunch in room 108. |
