Comeback Athlete: Tim Najar


• What was your injury, and how/when did it happen?
I broke my right ankle during summer before football practice. I was playing basketball and I jumped up and came down on the side of Mike Giancolas foot.


• What was your initial reaction to being injured?

I was really upset and sad because it was the beginning of the year and I was afraid to lose my starting spot.


• How did you stay motivated? (Friends, teammates, coaches, etc.)
My teammates and coaches were there to help me get through the situation. My parents and my girlfriend were also there comfort me and keep my mind positive.


• What was your commitment to the team while you were injured?
I still went to every practice and supported the team.


• What was your commitment to rehab? (hours/days per week, etc.)

I worked for about 2 hours every day strengthening my ankle and staying in shape.


• How has your injury affected your dedication to your sport?
Because I love football and knowing it was probably my last year playing, I was motivated to work hard in rehab and get back as soon as possible.


• What scripture verses helped you through this difficult time?
Philippians 4:13. “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

JV Boys Soccer: Starting Fresh
Usually, the boys J.V. roster is filled with quite a few freshmen. As there is no freshmen soccer team, it is not at all unusual to see some of Valley's newest students squaring off against some teams, like Mitty and Bellarmine, who are chock full of sophomores and even juniors. Naturally, putting freshman and juniors together seems slightly... unfair. Things are going to be different this year.
