Letter
from the Editor
By Steven Giordano
Finally! Christmas has arrived, or almost, and the most desired break
besides summer is here. People are anxious, nervous, and running around
like a chickens with their heads cut off. Well, at least at shops
and malls everywhere. Personally, I visit the mall hopefully just
once every holiday season. My dad and I know what we need, get in,
get it, get out, and move on. That is, however, not the most popular
method. There are other things most students would much rather be
doing, such as doing homework, studying for the coming semester, and,
well maybe not. People sometimes just want to sit and stare, always
exciting.
When you are waking up at 11:00 AM and looking for something to do,
flip on the tube (TV) and catch some cheesy, never before seen game
shows and sitcoms not otherwise worthy of prime time. Of course, the
television can be a waste when we have all this time to get outside
away from those prisons of confining desks.
However, Jesus is where everything centers around. It is simple; no
Jesus means no festivities. How better to celebrate this time than
by sharing Christ and His message to all who will hear it. Check out
Luke 2 for the real deal. This break covers both this as well as the
inception of the new year.
Now imagine, Christmas has passed, UK Boxing Day has been, well, boxed
considering no American seems to understand what it means, and plans
are now being made for the celebration of 2006. What will make this
next year any better than the last? Will one simply change the date
they place on the top of papers from 05 to 06, or will January 1 mean
anything different? For many, these pledges routinely address stress,
habits, and other aspects of life. What will you change?

JV Boys Soccer: Starting
Fresh
Usually, the boys J.V. roster is filled with quite a few freshmen.
As there is no freshmen soccer team, it is not at all unusual to see
some of Valley's newest students squaring off against some teams,
like Mitty and Bellarmine, who are chock full of sophomores and even
juniors. Naturally, putting freshman and juniors together seems slightly...
unfair. Things are going to be different this year.

Teacher Survey: Most
Embarrassing Holiday Moment?
Embarassing moments happen to everyone. They are not something
you can avoid or prevent, they are just part of life that most people
have learned to accept and shake off. Christmas brings joy but it
can also bring several embarrassing moments that a majority of people
would much rather forget. The events of Christmas such as the putting
up of the Christmas tree, or maybe trying to put together some of
the presents that say "assembly required" can bring those
most memorable Christmas moments.
