The
Rush of Rugby
by Steven Giordano
The Warrior Rugby team has begun
preparation for their 2006 season. While it is know officially as
a club, there is no doubt how serious these guys are. With practices
three times per week, they look to put up a fight against anyone,
of course that fight is figurative.
Rugby is a sport that many have heard of and possibly recognize while
flipping through the channels, yet beyond that, many are ignorant
of the game’s truly intense competitiveness. “It gives you a rush
when your head hits the ground really hard,” stated Ben Jones.
It can be a fast paced mayhem at times; Jones added, “but when you
get hurt, the game doesn’t stop for anyone. And after a game, when
people ask you where you got those scratches and bruises, you can
say ‘I got it playing rugby’.” Led by captain Andrew Decker,
the Warriors look to have another bone-crushing season. No pads, no
protection, no whole shirts after practice, and eventually no teeth.
The lack of teeth is slightly exaggerated but not far off. Ross
Giordano after a regular practice had the entire backside
of his shirt missing-in-action.
The team starts games at the end of January. Keep an ear out for when
this game can be experienced.

JV Boys Soccer: Starting
Fresh
Usually, the boys J.V. roster is filled with quite a few freshmen.
As there is no freshmen soccer team, it is not at all unusual to see
some of Valley's newest students squaring off against some teams,
like Mitty and Bellarmine, who are chock full of sophomores and even
juniors. Naturally, putting freshman and juniors together seems slightly...
unfair. Things are going to be different this year.

Teacher Survey: Most
Embarrassing Holiday Moment?
Embarassing moments happen to everyone. They are not something
you can avoid or prevent, they are just part of life that most people
have learned to accept and shake off. Christmas brings joy but it
can also bring several embarrassing moments that a majority of people
would much rather forget. The events of Christmas such as the putting
up of the Christmas tree, or maybe trying to put together some of
the presents that say "assembly required" can bring those
most memorable Christmas moments.
