ASB Contest a Huge Success

by Victoria Bergland

Three weeks before Thanksgiving, the ASB class split into four teams and planned on competing against each other for highest profit from selling Turkey Grams. Each team took a few days to think of the cost of each gram, what they were going to sell, and how they were going to make more profit than the other three teams. Team #2, although they made the least amount of money, had great options for their Turkey Grams, which consisted of the choice of brownies, just candy, or both. Team #3 received the second lowest amount of money with options such as jeans day passes for teachers, sweats day passes for the students, and candy passed out with their Turkey Grams. Team #1 fell just short of Team #4, the winning group. They had a drawing for a $20 gift certificate to Target, and a bag of candy with each Turkey Gram. The winning group decided to stay away from candy, and Team #4 chose to give a bag of Muddy Buddies (aka Puppy Chow) and a hat with turkey feathers. The competition began, and each day at lunch the quad was set up with tables and posters. Days of selling went by, and on Wednesday, November 22, a total of 1,959 Turkey Grams were delivered. This year, the ASB made more money than they have ever had. This enables them to be able to put a couple hundred dollars towards a toy drive during Christmas time. Overall, ASB had a great time working together, making Turkey Grams, and earning money to help spread the Christmas cheer.
