Many of the talented actors and actresses who starred in The Santa Clause and The Santa Clause 2 returned to their characters in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. Junior Tito Ortiz stated that, “Santa Clause 3 is better than the 2nd one but not as good as the first.” Tim Allen, who faces many choices throughout the movie, played the main role of Scott Calvin. Martin Short, who tried to take over Santa Clause’s job and turn Christmas into Frostmas, played Jack Frost.
Jack Frost gets tired of living in the shadow of Santa Clause and decides to do something about it. Santa Clause faced many challenges with not only the North Pole, but with his in-laws as well. As Scott Calvin and his wife remain in the North Pole, he has a pretend identity that he only tells his in-laws because he cannot tell them that he is Santa Clause. Mrs. Clause played by Elizabeth Mitchell, gets sad about not having the comfort of her family with her during the holidays and during her pregnancy.
Scott Calvin has the whole North Pole transformed into what his in-laws, played by Ann Margaret and Alan Arkin, think is Canada. All the elves act like Canadians and help transform the North Pole. With the help of the Sandman he manages to get his in-laws to the North Pole without them knowing, and he brings along his extended family as well. Jack Frost gets very sneaky and pulls some tricks on Scott Calvin to take his role as Santa Clause. Frost takes the North Pole and turns it into a theme park where people go there and pay to put their kids on the nice list. Scott visits the theme park and is appalled by what Jack has done with the true Christmas spirit and the North Pole. He pulls some tricks on Jack Frost as well and takes his job back. He realizes how important it is to not keep secrets so he reveals who he truly is to his in-laws. Mrs. Clause successfully gives birth to her baby, Bud.
Junior Stephanie Bales remarked, “Even though it was cheesy at moments, overall, it was a good movie supported with humor.” So grab your little brother or sister and head out to the movies for good holiday humor.
