Mrs. Cathy Gengl is one of the awesome math teachers here at Valley. After graduating from San Jose State University, she began teaching math and science. She hash been teaching for a “whoppin’” 18 years.
She is a cool teacher who has a way of teaching math that makes it easy to learn.
Mrs. Gengl has a unique reward system, that when you ace a test, you receive a “homework slip.” Homework slips are good for either getting out of one homework assignment, or you can save them to redeem for extra points on your final exam. (Personally, I’m saving mine up for the final.)
Although Mrs. Gengl loves to teach math and loves being around her students, she sometimes finds it a challenge to get students to be “consistent” in their work.
Here’s what freshman, Rochelle Stryker had to say about Mrs. Gengl, “I like how she teaches, how she does it, I don’t know, but it works. I think I’ve learned more in her class than in any other math class I’ve been in.”
In her spare time, Mrs. Gengl enjoys interior decorating and home remodeling. She also loves arts, crafts, and knitting. Over the holidays, Mrs. Gengl is hoping to take a mini vacation to Hawaii with her husband.
A word from Mrs. Gengl… “Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Have a good break because when you get back, you’re hitting the books hard!”
