VC students have various traditions that they participate in during their Christmas vacation. Some popular American Christmas traditions include: seeing Santa Claus in the mall, decorating Christmas trees, family gatherings, singing Christmas carols, television and movies, nativity scenes, sending Christmas cards, and seeing Christmas lights. A tradition that my family has is that we act out the story of the birth of Christ. Here are a few traditions shared by Valley students:

Amy Carpenter:
“Every year, I get a tree that is flocked and I print out Anime pictures and put them on my tree. I dress up my dog and I put a red nose on my [fake] elk [head].”

Cari Cronquist:
“Usually, me and a bunch of my friends go driving and look a Christmas lights.”

Sarah Jasso:
“We make tamales.”

Michael Langdlin:
“We always have our grandparents over or we always try to get family over.”

Noah Gain:
“I watch A Charlie Brown Christmas every year and eat silk cream pie from Baker’s Square.”

Kiley Gunter:
“We have a family dinner because I have two different sides of the family, so it is pretty fun.”
