This year, boys’ Wrestling is ready to compete with new members on the team and a positive attitude. Their coach Oscar Gonzalez, Jr. has been preparing the team for a competitive season.
“Wrestling’s hard, but our coach supports the whole team all the way,” stated Alamgir Mand, a junior on the wrestling team. “Through [the team] and God I think we’ll do well this year.”
Last year, Ryan Gardner came in first in the WCAL finals for the 215-pound weight class. This year Gardner is the only senior on the team, and he has been preparing to have a season as successful as last year.
The first match was November 21 against Wilcox High School. On December 2 the boy were at the Harbor Tournament against Harbor High School in Santa Cruz. Then they play Clayton Valley High School in Concord on December 9. Their next game is at 7 a.m. on December 16 at Livermore High School.
