Every year, Valley Christian holds a Mission’s Trip to Guatemala, but this year the Guatemala trip has been replaced for a first time ever mission’s trip to Mexico. Led by Mr. Falkowski, a handful of students volunteered to be a part of this great experience. The group leaves on February 14th, and returns on the 24th to report their experiences. The students and parent volunteers will take part in activities such as painting schools for underprivileged children. “We’re doing this for two reasons: for them, and for us” says senior Brooke Stroup. Helping the people there will broaden the view on the world for those who have never experienced an underprivileged group. Mr. Falkowski says that, “They need our help and hopefully the experiences brought back by the volunteers will encourage others to participate in next year’s missions trip.”
Certain activities that the students will be involved in are: a puppet show for the kids, working at a ranch, games for the kids, worship services, and many other community service projects. Senior Eric Tort concludes. “Though the work is going to be hard, it shall be a great experience, and we will bond with the people there. I have no problem sacrificing this winter break because I know it is going to be for a good cause and it is going to be exciting and fun.”
