The freshmen boys basketball season is coming to an end, and they are battling many challenges against their competition.
The boys tipped off the season well, winning their first few games. In mid-December, the team worked together and dominated both Santa Cruz and North Salinas; both with scores leading by fifty points. As the season progressed, the team was faced with many different challenges. However, Coach Matt Cossell encouraged them to keep their heads held high and to try their best.
With the season rapidly closing, the boys were defeated by traditional powers Bellarmine and Sacred Heart Cathedral. However, the boys’ confidence skyrocketed when they finally beat out Archbishop Mitty with a score of 50-40, for their first WCAL of the season and of the team’s young career. With only four games left in the season, the Warriors hope to finish off well. Playing on back-to-back nights against Junipero Serra and Archbishop Riordan, the team suffered a pair of tough losses by single digits.
