CLUB INTERACT, PARTY PLANNING HEADQUARTERS
By Suzi Wakatsuki

Looking for community service? It seems as if everyone could always do with a bit more. If this is starting to sound like the story of your life, Club Interact is just the place for you.

But what, exactly, is Club Interact, you might ask? Club Interact is a club headed by senior Justin Klein that focuses on giving back to the community via volunteer work. Not only does this club provide volunteer opportunities, it also plans and executes service-based events of their own. Take for example, the upcoming senior citizen dance on February 13 at Los Gatos Meadows. With a 3:00pm starting time, Valentine’s Day won’t be heralded in on the wings of Cupid and his minions, but rather with the help of Club Interact and their numerous hard working volunteers.

Hard working doesn’t even describe the work done by these steadfast people. They have been planning this event since the initiation of the club last year. The dance is held the day before the renowned Love Holiday, and Valentine’s Day is the theme for this dance. The decorations will reflect the theme and create a mood of love and laughter. It won’t be hard to imagine a flurry of pinks, whites and reds adorning the dance room, and with the live music (compliments of several Valley Christian volunteer band members) the atmosphere will be heightened by the presence of Cupid. Food will be provided by the Los Gatos Meadow’s personnel (as delicate health and fragile diets need to be taken into consideration) and several games and crafts will be available for those who wish to watch the dancing rather than participate. The funds needed to finance such an event were raised last year through a massive bake sale. Klein is emphatic that this event will be the best event that they have been involved with yet. “I know this dance will be a rockin’ success!”

Judging by past displays by Club Interact, little doubt remains as to the success of the dance. Previously they have marched in the San Jose Christmas Parade, held on December 5. Best of luck to you and your endeavors to obtain community service!
