Missions Trips of 2005
By Amanda Belz
Going on a missions trip
is always a worthwhile experience during your Winter Break or
summer fun.
A mission trip is a great way to go to other countries and share
the message of Jesus Christ with the people around you. A missions
trip that will be taking place very soon is the Guatemala trip
sponsored by Mr. Stephen Torode. Mr. Torode delightedly reflected
upon the previous trips, “We usually go over there and give
them some candy; but the main reason to go is to see what it’s
like to be in a third world country.”
During the summer, the opportunity is also available to go to
Japan for two weeks. Mrs. Terry, the Japanese teacher at Valley,
can be contacted about this upcoming missions trip. Did you know
that only 1% of Japanese people are Christians? Any student intersted
in spreading the Word of God to people in Japan, can visit room
108 for more information from Mrs. Terry.
Mission trips are eye-opening experiences. Jesus preached about
going out and doing His work. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus said,
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
The Bible also says in Eph. 4:12-13, “…to prepare
God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up until we reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge
of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure
of the fullness of Christ.”
