KEEPING ON THE RIGHT TRACK WITH GOD FOR 2005
By Alex Farrokhian
“…Let us
throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,
and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let
us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning shame,
and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider
him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will
not grow weary and lose heart”
Hebrews 12:1b-3
As we are a month into the second semester and at the beginning
of the new year, these verses are extremely relevant both to our
lives in general and our walk with God. Most importantly we must
constantly remind ourselves that our life goes beyond just school
and friends because we are God’s children and we have committed
as Christians to run the good race. This means that we cannot
let ourselves be led astray by temptations, but instead devote
ourselves to growing in our faith by reading the Bible, praying,
and entering into fellowship with other Christians. Take this
new year as a fresh opportunity to be courageous in your faith
and do things that you might have otherwise been too timid in
your faith to do. For example go on a mission’s trip, take
a stand here at school, or among your friends outside of school.
After you’ve made the commitment to grow in Christ, the
best way to make sure you don’t fade out is to find an accountability
partner or group that will keep you on track when you don’t
feel like staying the course. It will be hard at times, but remember
that the joy of a relationship with God and being able to spend
eternity with Him will ultimately out weigh whatever pain and
hardship it takes to get there. God bless.
