Students Live the ASB
“GET REAL” Motto
living a life that exemplifies the way of christ
By Alexandra Farrokhian
High School can easily become
a time when teens fall from the path of Christ. However, senior
Kenny Guertin has made it his first priority to stay close to
God and live as a lighthouse of His love. His devotion is very
apparent through his lifestyle and attitude, and his peers readily
testify to seeing the spirit of Christ working in and through
him. When asked, Kenny emphasized the importance of spending time
alone with God, meditating on His Word and praying. This is good
advice for any Christian, but especially for seniors, as they
set their spiritual foundation for their college years and the
rest of their lives. Leaving Valley Christian for a secular college
can test a Christian’s faith, but Kenny is steadfast in
his resolution to stay focused on God through getting involved
in a campus crusade ministry and finding a good church near whatever
college he attends. When asked what advice he would give to his
peers he encouraged, “Find great Christian friends because
spending time with other Christians keeps you accountable. Also
be a light in your household and among your non-Christian friends.
Get in the Word of God and stay in it. There are always people
at Valley that would love to answer any questions you have, so
don’t be afraid to ask.” Last Kenny emphasized the
importance of being sure in your faith and urged that “We
have to learn our Christian morals and values now because our
faith will be challenged in the world and we must be prepared.”
