JV GIRLS WATERPOLO WRAPS-UP
HARD FOUGHT SEASON
Girls win first tournament, become best
JV girls team
By Alex Farrokhian
Concluding their best season
ever, the JV girls water polo team saw their hard work pay off.
An impressive record of 13 wins and only 4 losses truly showcased
the girls’ fierce skills as well as the efforts and resolute
commitment they contributed to the team. They are the first JV
team in Valley history to win a tournament, and dominate both
the Monte Vista and Valley Christian tournaments, outscoring the
top teams. Leading the team in scoring were Mimi Santiesesteban
with 30 goals, Kristina Micotti with 22 goals, and Katy Allen
with 15 goals. While these girls headed up the offense, Giselle
Hamamjy held down their solid defense as goalie with 47 saves,
22 more than any other JV goalie at Valley. However they can not
attribute their success to only a few, it was a team endeavor.
Their coach, Cathy Manthey had only good things to say about her
team. She attributed much of their success to the fact that, “They
have tremendous team chemistry and work very well together.”
Adding that the talent pool of JV lady water polo players is growing
every year and this year’s team has stood out by far as
the best JV team Valley has ever had.
