VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER:
Running Head First Into the Play-offs
By Steven Giordano
In one of the toughest high
school athletic leagues in the state, the JV soccer girls are
holding their own this season with a solid record of 6-4-3.
Since games began in early December, the girls haven’t taken
a break. Facing one difficult opponent after another, the team
has bonded together to overcome teams such as Presentation and
Live Oak.
One of the highlights of the season was the game against Presentation
on January 4. As the girls took on the Panthers at their home
field, the uncertainty of what the outcome would be had no effect
on their confidence in their ability to work together. Taking
a 1-0 lead in the middle of the first half, the Warriors were
able to hold the lead through the rest of the game, finishing
the tough battle with a satisfying 1-0 victory.
As the season continues, the girls prepare to face new opponents
as well as a few rematches with previous ones. The games will
come to an end in early February, but until then, the JV soccer
girls will continue to prepare for the trials ahead of them.
