Comeback Athlete: Christina Kidd
By Kylie Gifford

• What was your injury, and how/when did it happen?
“I sprained my ankle pretty bad on the first day of volleyball tryouts two weeks before school started. I was blocking and rolled my ankle on somebody’s foot on the way down.

• What was your initial reaction to your injury?
“I was seriously discouraged because it happened during tryouts, and I thought I had lost my chance of making the varsity team.”

• How did you stay motivated?
“Watching our team practicing and playing kept me motivated and encouraged me even more to follow the rehab in order to heal faster. Also, it helped that I had other friends in rehab with me so we could cheer together on the bench.”

• How did God help you through this time?
“Romans 5:3,4 says ‘Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.’ Even though I was really down and discouraged by my injury, I had to put that thinking aside and work hard.”

• What was your commitment to the team while you were injured?
“I still went to every tryout and every practice until I could play again. Since I missed the first couple of games, I cheered my team on from the bench.”

• What was your commitment to rehab?
“I went to rehab five days a week after school for about two hours. This lasted around four weeks.”

• How has your injury affected your dedication to your sport?
“Having to sit and watch my favorite sport for four weeks made me even more excited to be able to play again. I think it made me work harder to try and earn the spot given to me.”

Winter Ball
As guys scrounge up the nerve to ask that special girl to Winter Ball, girls are spending their time in dress shops looking for that perfect dress. The worst-case scenario would be for a girl to walk into Decathlon and see another girl wearing the same dress. The only way to avoid this terrible situation is to buy a one of a kind dress from a smaller less popular dress store.
