January Devotional
By Brittany Brinkman
The month of love is approaching,
and I thought it was only fitting to do January’s devotional on
LOVE in order to give you a head start on practicing it.
God calls us to love others, not only our friends and family,
but also our enemies. Now this concept has been told to us a thousand
times, but have you really thought about it. For me, personally,
loving others who definitely do not love me is very difficult.
Sometimes people make it sound so easy, but really I believe it
is one of the hardest skills we can learn. Loving people, who
are not very nice, is truly following in Christ’s footsteps. Think
about it; Christ was mocked, spit on, and eventually killed by
people we would call His enemies. In the end, Christ died for
them, because He loved them with all His heart, mind, and soul.
Loving our rivals, adversaries, and foes will help bring us closer
to the maker of love, God.
Another important part of love is made clear in 1 Corinthians
13. Now, this chapter is my all time favorite, because it teaches
me how to love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of
wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7). These verses basically say how a person
should act if they truly love one another. I definitely do not
do all these things to people I claim to love. I challenge you
to try to take one or two of these aspects and practice it on
the people you love. So, when your younger sibling starts yelling
at you, relax, do not yell back, and be patient.
The next month is all about love! Practice loving your enemies,
and also practice truly loving your family and friends.

Winter Ball
As guys scrounge up the nerve to ask that special girl to Winter
Ball, girls are spending their time in dress shops looking for
that perfect dress. The worst-case scenario would be for a girl
to walk into Decathlon and see another girl wearing the same dress.
The only way to avoid this terrible situation is to buy a one
of a kind dress from a smaller less popular dress store.
