Spotlight Athlete: Morgan Celaya
By Adam Hill

Sophomores on varsity are a pretty rare commodity in this day and age. Morgan Celaya is a standout on the varsity team and in the league as she plays central midfield. She has had much success behind her in her past, and hopes to continue on through high school and hopefully into college.
Soccer isn’t the only sport Celaya trains for each year as she runs track in the spring. Celaya is an extremely hard trainer as she not only works hard on the soccer field and track, but also on her own time and during the off season. Celaya has reached many heights in her career. She has gone to Florida and won the club soccer nationals. Celaya ended up scoring a goal in the last two minutes with a tied game on the line. That’s not the only accomplishment she has made, but also in 2003 she was ranked number 9 in the nation for the 800 meter (2 laps) with a time of 2.18.
“Morgan embodies all the characteristics of our team. She works hard and is very humble. She is very talented and is a complete TEAM player,” said vasrsity soccer coach Jolene Keel. Celaya has 6 goals and 8 assists so far in the year, with an outstanding 3.5 grade point average. Every since she started playing at the age of 6, she has wanted a CCS Championship. “Amy Walsh, Solmaz Mirzalou, and coach Keel are very inspirational for me,” said Celaya.
Celaya hopes to reach Santa Clara or San Jose State University on a scholarship. She has a lot of fun with her teammates and is a very strong Christian. She attends Christian Club and Slam Poetry Club weekly. Celaya still has two more years to go, and hopefully will become one of the best athletes not only here in the Bay Area, but also in the nation.

Winter Ball
As guys scrounge up the nerve to ask that special girl to Winter Ball, girls are spending their time in dress shops looking for that perfect dress. The worst-case scenario would be for a girl to walk into Decathlon and see another girl wearing the same dress. The only way to avoid this terrible situation is to buy a one of a kind dress from a smaller less popular dress store.
