Winter Ball
Where to Shop and Where to Eat
By Selena Ma

As guys scrounge up the nerve to ask that special girl to Winter Ball, girls are spending their time in dress shops looking for that perfect dress. The worst-case scenario would be for a girl to walk into the Decathlon and see another girl wearing the same dress. The only way to avoid this terrible situation is to buy a one of a kind dress from a smaller less popular dress store. Although Jessica McClintock carries a large variety of beautiful dresses, the chances of you having the same dress as another girl is very probable. Dress shops such as Trudy’s in the Pruneyard sells a large selection of unique dresses. Trudy’s ensures that you will not have the same dress as another girl because they have the name and high school of the girls that buy each dress in their computer database. This guarantees that you will be the only one wearing that dress. There is always the option of borrowing a dress from a friend. Many girls will never wear a dress twice so this is an inexpensive way to get a last minute dress.
Aside from the dress, there are other important details to Winter Ball. Since dinner is not served, dinner reservations or a homemade dinner is necessary before the dance. Be sure to go to a place where you can make reservations and do so as soon as possible. PF Chang’s, Andiamo’s, Benihanas, and Elephant Bar are some places that take reservations while restaurants such as Cheesecake Factory and BJ’s do not. Another idea is to have a homemade dinner at someone’s house and have a few couples over. Half the fun in going to a dance is getting ready and going out to dinner so make sure you have everything you need to make this part of Winter Ball a success.
