What is the real meaning
of Easter?
When asked that question, most people think of the Easter Bunny,
the candy, and, of course, Easter eggs. Not many people would
answer Jesus. Most people have lost sight of the real meaning
of Easter.
The real reason why we celebrate Easter is because of Jesus Christ’s
resurrection. He suffered for us all and died on a cross as the
ultimate sacrifice. He was tortured and ridiculed and yet he chose
to die for our sins so that we may live. He gave His life for
us. He died on the cross to save us.
Easter is the day that Jesus came out of the tomb, resurrected
from the dead. After many trials and hardships on the most painful
day of crucifixion, Jesus defied the odds and rose from the dead.
Easter is to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. It should not
be all about a bunny that leaves eggs with candy in them.
So whenever you think of Easter, think of John 11:25, “Jesus
said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes
in me will live…” Please remember that Jesus is the
reason for the season of Easter. Without Him, we would not have
Easter.
