MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL: FUFILLING
EACH DAY WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST
“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the
morrow, for what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth
for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”James 4:14
By Deanna De La Cruz
This verse is fitting for
this time of the school year. Life seems extra hectic this time
of the school year as it is beginning to come to a close. Though
the end seems far from here, its affects are already being felt
in the form of end of the year projects, preparation of advanced
placement tests, and for the seniors, graduation and deciding
which college to attend.
I’m sure most of us are guilty of waking up some mornings
and feeling like the workload for the day will be too much for
us to handle, and that we should just stay in bed and hide from
the uncertainties of the outside world. When we wake up in the
morning on the days where the workload is especially burdensome,
we tend to worry ourselves to death over the minor things that
may go wrong in the day and never concentrate on what can go right.
It is ironic that the stress of worrying about the impending day
is generally worse than the actual day itself. Though a day may
live up to its bad expectations occasionally, for the most part,
the day is usually not as bad as we envision it to be. It is really
the forethought of wondering how the day is going to turn out
that really dictates how it is really going to unfold.
So we should look forward to each day as a blessing and make everyday
a good day because life is too short to allow bad ones. We need
to appreciate everyday we are given because each day is a gift.
Don’t spend another moment worrying about the little things,
and instead, enjoy each day as it comes.
