SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS WEEK
BROTHER FRED ENCOURAGES THE STUDENT BODY
By Sabrina Kilmer
February 6-11 was Valley
Christian’s last Spiritual Emphasis Week for the 2004-2005
school year. As usual, Spiritual Emphasis Week was a huge success.
It started out with Andy Gridley, a young musician who led chapel
in an hour of worship. He has traveled all over the world, and
played in places such as the On Tuesday students were introduced
to the week’s very lively and energetic speaker, Clint Fredricks,
who was also referred to as “Brother Fred.” He told
a story about how he met his wife in college, but when they decided
to marry, Debbie had second thoughts. She told Clint that she
felt the Lord did not want them to marry at that moment. Six months
went by and Clint did some thinking. The Lord told him that he
needed to start living for God instead of Debbie. Clint came to
the realization that he had been putting Debbie first in his life
instead of God.
Wednesday was spent hearing more on the topic of living for God
and putting Him first. Clint reminded students that God has mercy
and has His hand stretched out over all.
Thursday the speaker told students about how God hates sin, but
though human nature has failed, He is still there when everyone
else walks away. But if someone claims to be a Christian but does
not live the life, they will be among the most miserable people
on earth. Clint Fredricks led students in prayer and prayed that
he would touch everyone with his words. He was very enthusiastic
about bringing students to God that week.
Friday was Clint’s last day to spend with students. He encouraged
everyone to stand on the front lines for God and to not be afraid
of their peer’s thoughts. He did an alter call where a majority
of the students responded, which was followed by an intimate song
called, Breathe. It was a wonderful ending to Spiritual Emphasi
Week, and Brother Fred touched the lives of the students at Valley.
