TRACK & FIELD RACES
TO VICTORY
---
By Kylie Gifford
With spring rapidly approaching,
the 2005 track team has begun preparation for their two-month
season.
For many track athletes, who have been training since the conclusion
of last year’s season, the intense workouts and difficult
meets are no big challenge. Expectations are high this year for
a handful of star athletes, including senior Evelyn Wing, juniors
Khrystal Carter and Dominique Hunsucker, and freshman Dahlys Marshall.
Head coach Greg Marshall dedicates his afternoons to helping prepare
the team for upcoming meets with the help of assistant coaches
Ray Strom, Johanna Wans, and Tammie Marshall.
The Riordan-Sacred Heart Prep meet on March 16 brought about success
for the team. Though their team has less member than most teams
in the league, the Warriors achieved great results in their first
meet of the season.
As always, high expectations are present for the track and field
team as they kick off yet another season in the West Catholic
League.
