Spring
Fashions Are Here!
Males:
by Danté Perez

Spring is finally here! The
latest urban fashion for men calls for a new look around the Bay
Area. Different types of designers’ clothing are worn from LRG
to Lot 29.
For the upper body wear, teens like to wear just plain white tee
shirts with a different colored shirt under to match their shoes,
or maybe a collar shirt from Sean John, Echo, Roca Wear, G-unit,
and South pole. Since the sun is coming out youth like to wear
either football or basketball throwback jerseys: Walter “Sweetness”
Payton, to George “Iceman” Gervin. For those chilly spring days,
zip up jackets with hoodies are common or even Pea coats are worn.
For lower body attire, Girbaud clothing line is being brought
back from the archives to the Bay. The company is producing more
colors so they can mix and match the jeans or shorts that they
are wearing with their other clothing. Also sweats even basketball
shorts are the latest fashion.
Shoes are the most important assets in a person’s wardrobe. Jordan’s
are typically worn from the Ones to the Twenty-ones. But don’t
give up on the Reebok classics, Pumas, Shell Toe Addidas, Timberland
boots, Fila, Nikes, K-Swiss, Chuck Taylor’s, Steve Maddens, and
the latest addition are VANS! On the rise sneakers are Penguins.
People combine the sweats with the hoodies Addidas, the zip up
Jackets with Girbauds and Jordans, combine white shirts with blue
jeans and the Nikes, the collar shirts with the jean shorts and
put on the Vans or even the throwback jerseys with some jeans
and throw on the Timberland boots. So if you want to keep up with
the generation, get a head start and try some of the new on the
rise clothing lines in addition to mixing and matching your own
style to it.

As the California climate
begins to rise, pants and long-sleeve shirts begin to shorten
in preparation for the heat. In this crucial and informational
article you will learn what are the hottest fashions, biggest
raves, and all of the proper attire necessary for this spring.
Bermuda shorts are no longer just for the guys; girls too can
pull off this perfect spring attire. Shorter then capris and longer
then shorts, Bermuda shorts fall right above the knee, and more
importantly they fit right in with Valley Christian dress code.
With brands like Lux from Urban Outfitters to Dolce and Gabanna
selling these stylish pants are a must have this season.
There is no denying that leggings are back in style. Fortunately
they are easy to come by and inexpensive. Many girls chose to
mix it up and wear these tight leggings with a skirt or under
jeans that are frayed or ripped. This style works well with the
chillier spring days, protecting your legs!
For shoes this season, flip flops are of course a must, but if
you are tired of flat sandals try a little elevation. Wedge sandals
and wooden platforms are stylish shoes to have in your closet
this spring. These shoes look cute with skirts or even some Bermuda
shorts. Also, another hot shoe this season is the printed sneakers.
Buy some bright flat Vans or custom design your own unique style.
Large jewelry is carrying on from winter into spring. Buy your
own dangling chandelier earrings or large hoops anywhere, to look
stylish all spring. Another great accessory is the extra-large
sunglasses. Either where the large lenses on your head or of course
use them the traditional way to block the sun. All girls should
have some sort of sunglasses to protect her beautiful face from
those spring rays. The final piece of spring fashion is to invest
in an adorable tote bag that can carry your schoolbooks or your
towel for a day at the beach. These bags come in all colors, shapes,
and sizes. Maybe pick a few out to match with different outfits.
Hopefully these spring fashion tips help you with your spring
wardrobe. Just remember to try to have a somewhat unique style
while wearing the hottest fashions.

Guatamala Trip 2006
The Guatemala team traveled to Guatemala the week of February
17, 2006. Mr. Steve Torode as well as Mr.
Nathan Smith and Mrs. Lisa Moore accompanied
the students on their six-hour flight far away from home.
While in Guatemala, the group of 17 students helped to build the
roof of a schoolhouse. They went to San Antonio Nejapa, Antigua,
and Guatemala City. They also visited schools where they did activities
with children such as ball games and blowing bubbles. A favorite
game of the students that was shared in chapel was Shrimp and
Caramel. One person starts by saying shrimp, and the other person
answers back with caramel. Though the game sounds simple, it was
a way to get the kids involved with the students.

Student Experiences
the Grammys
For most students, February third was exciting simply because
it marked the beginning of the weekend. Valley Christian junior
Yuma Sung found the day exciting for other reasons.
Yuma was selected to play in the 2006 Grammy
Trio as a pianist, an honor that few receive, let alone a sixteen
year old. Staying in Los Angeles for ten days, Yuma had the opportunity
to play with many famous Jazz musicians and experience the prestige
of the awards show.

Theater Production Captivates Audiences
Valley Christian Theater’s spring musical, Oklahoma,
is one of its finest accomplishments yet. The authenticity, dedication,
and captivation of the audience by the performers brought people
back for more.
The teachers had their own opening night on Wednesday, March 15.
Their experience was that of astonishment as these were their
students acting and putting on a show that could not be done to
this quality even by those much older. Miss Julie Claypool
stated, “I thought it was really good, very adult. It was a great
romp all through Oklahoma!”
