VC Aquatics: Varsity Girls Leave Behind VC Legacy

by Kristin Chulick

The varsity swimming team kicked their way into an amazing season. They only lost one tough meet this season, and ended with the record of 6-1. The girls varsity swimming team sent eleven athletes to CCS.

Senior Christina Shilling blew people out of the water, receiving second place in the fifty-yard freestyle, and fourth place in the one hundred yard freestyle. She is also going to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on a seventy-five percent scholarship. The three senior captains Kelsi Okuda, Kyla Powers, and Christina Shilling are some of the best female swimmers to come through Valley. They led the team to second place in dual meets in the WCAL. The coach Jerry Bozzo said, “The legacy that the three senior captains left behind will never be forgotten by me as a coach who watched them battle through the lows, celebrate with them through the highs, and lead a team to a championship in 2005. The Varsity Girls Swimming team is definitely one as a whole who will leave a mark on the history of swimming at Valley Christian.
