Hard Work Pays Off for Students at the Awards Chapel

Students gain recognition for excellence in subjects

The entire student body gathered together on May 12 to honor those students who have excelled in arts, academics and athletics.

The principal's awards are selected people from the Bible who have a distinct characteristic and who have set an example for others to follow.

The Joshua Award - Alx Bear and Jeremy Georges
"A leader of Students."
Jeremiah 20:21 "'Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?' Declares the Lord."

The Caleb Award - Phong Huynh and David Ikuta
"A student who has shown great perseverance and diligence to assigned tasks."
Numbers 14:24 "Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land..."

The Daniel Award - Scott Cody, Christine Hanks, Faith Kriewall and Jared Sisson
"A student who has not been afraid to let his or her love and devotion for God be known."
Daniel 6:23 "The king was overyjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the dan. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God."

The Joseph Award - Katie Delgado, Kara Greene, Nicholas Trietman and Suzanne Westwood
"A student who had to endure a special hardship with a Christ-like testimony."
Genesis 50:19-20 "Joseph said to them: Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done..."

The Gift of Helps Award - Karnjeet Mann, Michael McCann and John Stringer
"A student who has shown a Christ-like attitude in helping and serving others."
Romans 12:10 "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourself."

The Luke 2:52 Award - Tristan Hicks, Erin Oswald, Ian Perry, Jake Walker, and Haley Yoder
"A student who has shown a balanced lifestyle of academics, physical, spiritual and social excellence."
Luke 2:52 "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men."
