Prayer Evangelism Class Looks Back on a Good Year
by Brittany Brinkman
The school year is finally coming to a close, and this means that the year is over for the Prayer Evangelism class. There have been so many wonderful outreaches that have truly blessed many deserving people. The school year began with a backpack drive for needy children. This drive helped the children from “Help One Child” who needed backpacks for school. These children were so grateful for just receiving a backpack. The next event was a food drive. The students were asked to bring in brown bags stuffed with food. Overall the students were able to bring in 183 bags.
During the Christmas season, the Prayer Evangelism class helped to put on a Christmas party for “Help One Child.” The students played with the children and helped pass out presents. The presents that the children received were from a drive that the Prayer Evangelism class sponsored at school. The event was a total success and the children were truly blessed by the Valley students.
The Prayer Evangelism class also reached out to the protective agencies in the city. The students first went to the police department. They met with the chaplain, and prayed for the police officers in the city of San Jose. The group of students also passed out a plethora of cookies to the deserving police force. A few months later the class collected cookies and treats for the fire department. They walked down the big Valley Christian hill to hand out the goodies to the brave fire fighters. One of the greatest outreaches that Valley Christian has every participated in was the Starbucks and bag drive. Valley raised over 200 bags of Starbucks coffee for Dr. Robert Burns’ daughter and her unit serving in the Middle East. Valley also collected a lot of bags full of items such as medicine, word searches, and small snacks. When the unit received these donations they were extremely excited. The class was so happy to be able to help many soldiers who are serving the country.
The Prayer Evangelism class has enjoyed helping so many people.
Ms. Vivian Pipkin said that, “There was a unique class this year, and everyone was always willing to help. God blessed this class with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and they always came through.“ I will miss them very much.”
